COURT OF HONOR/2011 DETAILS
On May 16 in New York City, the NABC Foundation will hold its third annual Court of Honor Gala, honoring Phil Knight, co-founder and chairman of Nike, Inc. Knight has been a visionary in the evolution and advancement in equipment for so many sports, but particularly basketball. His innovations in equipment and marketing have helped basketball achieve unmatched growth around the world and have made Nike the world’s largest sports and fitness company.The real winner from the Court of Honor Gala is the NABC Foundation’s TTRR (Ticket To Reading Rewards) program, helping raise literacy among middle school students across America. Operating in more than 150 schools, the students are encouraged to read books outside of the classroom and receive various rewards, including visits from college coaches and tickets to college basketball games.
The Court of Honor Gala Award is presented to an individual, businessman, educator, etc., who has roots in college basketball, values those roots in the game and has gone on to distinguish himself in his profession, exhibiting the highest standards for leadership.
